Calling all eco-friendly, organic business owners

Guys, I am super honored and excited to be contributing to a online magazine for their upcoming June issue. I’m keeping the name of the magazine under wraps (yes, I know I’m being secretive yet again) until it’s published, however, their primary focus is on showcasing the best in independent art and design. The categories range from fashion, vintage, organic, fair-trade and ecofriendly wares.

My job? To interview 5 fabulous business owners that are focused on offering ecofriendly products. It’s a great opportunity to share your work with like-minded people and I welcome you to submit your company in the comments below. Just a brief run-down (stating why you’re eco) will do plus a link to your work. The categories are wide open so whether you’re a fashion designer, vintage maven, jewelry designer or maker of organic foods/cosmetics and the like, please introduce yourself.

Of course, the final decision on who will be interviewed is in the editors hands, so I will only be contacting you if you’re selected. But don’t forget I have an ecofriendly and business series on my blog (albeit a wee bit neglected) so you may end up here if not in the magazine. What have you got to lose?

So guys, get submitting. I can’t wait to discover some new ecofriendly companies. Don’t be shy!

Well, I’m clearly late to the party, but I’ve heard it said: “Better late than never.”

I design and sell bags and accessories with recycled content– the outer fabric and applique is made from 100% recycled soda bottles and fabric scraps. The products have a kinda mod, postmodern look.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my stuff with you!

Hellop! Hope this is not too late yet. Didn’t check your blog for a few days and here is a new post.

I’m one of the two brains and two pairs of hands behind the brand NottyPooch. We recycle billboard banners by making them into eco-friendly, functional and cool accessories and bags like laptop cases for Macs, wallets, totes, storage bins, etc. We try to always use craft/brown paper for packaging and sew up the sides – so we don’t have to use glue.

Here is our shop on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/NottyPooch

    Thanks for checking! ;)

I’m always thrilled to see more eco-friendly businesses getting attention, perhaps spurring others to take a good look at their business practices. I’m a firm believer in reducing waste as my personal and business life. My KaBoogie shoes are made from reclaimed leathers and suedes. In just a 3 state area I am able to take hundreds of discarded, new quality garments from thrift stores and create something new, functional and hand-me-down quality. Even my scraps are passed on for further use! I reuse paper, ship in cereal boxes and create my tags from cardboard boxes. Very little of my materials are made from new materials.
    Thanks so much!

    Hi Adele,
I’m the owner and artist behind Wired Originals handcrafted jewelry on Etsy. I would love to be considered for this amazing opportunity. I specialize in modern, eco-friendly designs handcrafted with 100% reclaimed/recycled silver. I strive to be as earth-conscious in my business as possible, using non-mined silver and recycled packaging.

    Thank you for the consideration–Cari

Hello! Becka here from Bliss in a Teacup ( http.//blissinateacup.etsy.com) and I would love to be considered for this! The motivation behind our design decisions is reusing what would otherwise be discarded and making it something beautiful and functional. So, we use discarded architectural veneer, thrifted fabrics, threads, clock parts and hoops (where possible), paper ephemera, etc. We also use only non-toxic paints and varnishes on our products and recycle all our packaging!

    Thanks for the opportunity!

Ok, I am feeling a little small and new compared to the names above me, but here goes… I’m taking the leap. My name is Jenn Moore from Landfill Hill. I repurpose items that others may see as unusable, essentially saving them from the landfill. I love making items useful and beautiful again. Please take a peek at my little corner of the world, http://www.landfillhill.etsy.com.

Thanks for this amazing opportunity! I’m Betz, the author of the book Sewing Green. I launched Betz White Organic Textiles in 2009. It’s self-produced and professionally printed on demand in the US. Complimenting the new fabric line I am introducing a growing line of original sewing patterns called Make New or Make Do designed to be made from either new or repurposed fabrics. I would love for Daisy Janie to be considered for this opportunity, Adele – sounds great! The primary focus of my business is organic fabrics for retail & wholesale. I am passionate about green production and materials in any context, and I am thrilled to be in a position to make a significant contribution to a category that needs an eco facelift in a big way!

Thanks for throwing this out there for us!
