Envelopes for sale!

Hey friends, I’m clearing out my stock cupboard which includes a whack of envelopes. As the Holiday season is approaching (where WHERE is this year going?) and some of you may be creating your own greeting cards, I figured they might come in handy. I have multiple sizes/colors available  – A1 (4 bar), A2 and some mini vellum business card size ones (insert gift cards/tags into them).

The envelopes are listed in my Etsy shop.

P.S. I’m almost ready to launch my new blog. If you want, you can sign up for the newsletter to get all the details. I can’t wait to start sharing. I really miss blogging and chatting with you guys.

Hope you are all well. xo

That’s how long it’s been since I’ve posted here. So much as happened since my last post in May. Possibly too much to acknowledge right now but I just wanted break the silence over here and update you on some things.

I’ve decided to shut modernemotive down. This announcement has been greeted with many “oh no’s” but really, I don’t want anyone to feel bad about it. I’m thrilled. Yah, feels odd to say that but I am.

For the longest time I’ve been suffocating under modernemotive. It’s almost as though modernemotive and I were friends with unspoken issues and every time we tried to be together, it was awkward. There was a constant elephant in the room if you will.

With all endings come new beginnings and I can tell you I’m staring a new project that will launch early 2012. I’d love to keep in touch and tell you when it’s live. I’d like to keep in touch period. So, if you’d like to do the same, here’s how you can:

Of course, I still have some modernemotive products hanging around which I’d love to move out of my stock cupboard before year end. So, everything is on clearance. Many of the items are already sold out, so grab what you can as obviously they won’t be reprinted.

I’m also selling off what I’m calling “sassy seconds” of my Get Your Shit Together notepad. Why are they seconds? There was a slight (very slight) misalignment when they were trimmed. Being the perfectionist that I am, it drives me slightly bonkers that they aren’t cut perfectly on the pattern. But, they are in perfect usable condition and should still be used right?

With the Holidays just around the corner (seriously, where did this year go?), they are great little fillers to add to stockings.

I will try and pop in a few more times before the year is out. But in the meantime, take care and I do hope you’ll follow along as I start my new project.

Are you on Instagram?

Judging from the amount of comments that Arthur and Stella posts receive it’s clear you are all fans. So, I thought I’d ask you all if you are on Instagram. If you are, and you’d like to see more photos of these furballs, 99.9% of the photos I post are of them. Here are a few I’ve posted recently.

Stella & Arthur

Just search for me as modernemotive. Don’t forget to leave your username in the comments too so that I can follow you back.

If you don’t have Instagram (I think it’s an iPhone app only), all of the images get sent directly to my Twitter account so you can see them there too.

Happy Saturday!

Do you need to get your shit together?

So by now I’m sure you all know I have a new notepad out.  As with my other notepads, the theme and functionality is always born out of my own needs. The fact that I need to get my shit together is no secret and something James says lovingly (?) to me often.

Despite knowing what I need to do, that alone doesn’t always spur me into action. Why I’ve no clue and perhaps that’s a whole other blog post in itself. Or perhaps I just need to quit seeking the “why do I do this to myself” and just do it instead. There’s a refreshing thought huh?

In the spirit of sharing, here are some areas where I need to get my shit together. Rest assured there are way more items than the 4 you see below but I’ve deemed these as the most important. Besides, this is a re-occurring theme in my life so there will be plenty of opportunities to share more going forward.

BUSINESS

Complete Wholesale Documentation
I am super close to completing this. I just have some minor details I need to iron out and some procrastination to fight with. Yes, yes, you’ve heard this all before but let’s pretend this is the first time.

Reprint my old notepads
2 of the 6 are sold out and others are very close to that status too. This particular run will be big and my largest investment in modernemotive yet. It’s scary. Oh and well I can’t do the above without completing this component can I?

LIFE

Work on the condo
Despite going all gung-ho on our condo redo last year we didn’t reach the finish line. Artwork was found but not purchased. Accessories were pondered but not sought out. Pillow inserts were purchased but cases not sewn. The list goes on. We need to complete the living area, kitchen, and bathroom soon as we have a bedroom, another bathroom, an office and an outdoor space we need to procrastinate on and drag out forever.

Work Out
A few weeks ago I miraculously got my arse to the gym. I did this repeatedly for over a week and then I fell off the band wagon. Starting each day with a workout made a HUGE difference to my attitude throughout the day and my overall happiness. I felt so energized and I need to remember that feeling and get back to the gym ASAP before it gets lost.

So, now that I’ve shared some of my shit list, please do the same.

Awkward Silence

Yet another month has passed without so much as a whisper over here. I feel like there’s this awkward silence going on with my blog where I just don’t know what to say anymore. I’ve been waiting for the silence to lift but it isn’t. As expected, the longer is goes on the harder it is to spark that first word.

While the above might be a little bit dramatic at least I’m forming sentences. Usually I’m just staring at a blank document, sipping on a coffee and waiting for the words to come. I’d capture my thoughts through my camera but we are having a awkward moment too.

Regardless of why I’m feeling this way, I need to snap out of it. Can someone spark a fire under my arse please?

Anyway, enough about me. How are you?

Best Friends

I know I’m yet to officially introduce Arthur but I couldn’t resist sharing these adorable photos of Stella and Arthur together. Proof of a blossoming friendship between a rabbit and a dog. Does it get any cuter? Not a day goes by they don’t have a little snuggle fest and it warms my heart.

Best Friends

Apologies for the lack of updates the past few months. After a blah winter, I’m happy to report that there are lots of great things going on in my world. Come the end of March, I should be sharing the first of many new products coming.

I’ll try to resume regular posting again soon. Promise!

Blog Makeover

It seems I’m craving a lot of makeovers lately. Not only do I want one for myself but it was time to give my blog one too. I like to do it at least once a year, and while last year it was a little extreme (goodbye old blog), this year it’s was just a matter of aesthetics.

As with most things, it’s a work in progress and there are a few kinks I need to work out. The new design was supposed to part of a more expanded web presence but there’s still a lot of work to be done before it’s complete. However, knowing I had a new design just waiting made me look at my old blog design with a little distaste. So, I’m just launching the blog component for now and will slowly add the additions over time.

I do hope you like it and if you experience any funky stuff, please let me know in the comments. I am aware of most of the kinks but haven’t had a chance to preview this on a PC and on the dreaded Internet Explorer! ;)

To celebrate the new look around here, I’m offering my blog readers a shop discount. If you fancy yourself some modernemotive goods, simply enter “newblog2011” in the coupon code field when you check out on Etsy for 20% off. Offer is valid until Tuesday, February 15th, noon EST.

Happy Friday folks!

The problem with rabbits is…

They chew everything. Thankfully, most of the areas she has put her mark on are minimal, fixable or hidden. Sadly, the remote wasn’t so lucky.

I can’t help but laugh now when we lose another button. It’s a mighty fine day for her when we forget to put it somewhere safe and it’s left for literally 30 seconds. It’s like she has a six sense for when it’s out in the open and she immediately goes in for the kill.

We’ve tried everything for the chewing. Wiping areas with lemon juice, vinegar and apple bitter spray. She doesn’t care. Ooh, lemon juice? Yum. Vinegar. Even better. And apple bitter spray just seems to be the icing on the cake on any piece of wood for her. So much for that idea.

It’s a good job she’s so damn cute!

Stella has many funny quirks. She has a bit of an obsession with beer. If I’m sat having a drink, she’ll casually lick the glass and slowly try to make her way to the top unnoticed. Yah, not gonna happen. If I have a sip, an immediate flurry of licks to my lips is required.

She also begs for food. Good luck trying to eat anything when she’s around. She’ll come out of her hiding spot and bug you like a dog would. Shew her away and she’ll just come back. When I get her a carrot or some lettuce for a treat, I’ve barely left the kitchen and she’ll come running towards me ready for the goods. Girl likes to eat!

She really is a sweetie. Perhaps one that chews but we love her anyway.

Fashion. Hair. Makeup.

So I finally let the 6 huge bags of clothing I had put aside for donation to actually, you know, go to a charity. They have been ready to go since late summer, but I held onto them just in case. It’s quite embarrassing how many of the items donated were never worn but I’m happy some less fortunate ladies out there will get to wear them instead. With so many clothes donated, you could say my current wardrobe is very limited. And if I’m honest, for the most part, very blah! I feel like I’ve been stuck fashion-wise for a long time and I just need a new style.

So, I think once Winter is over, I’m going to donate most of what I have left. Figuring out what direction I’d like to go in fashion-wise is a whole other matter but I do know I need to “fem” it up a bit, do less casual and get my arse out of jeans 24/7. I think I’ll start pulling together outfits (which I’ll share here) to see if one naturally forms. Do you consider yourself to have a style? What would you call it?

In anticipation of figuring what direction I’m doing to go in fashion-wise, I also want a new haircut. I’ve worn it mid-length and straight for years and I’m bored. I’m not one of those girls that has the patience to spend much time on her hair – though perhaps I should – so it’s easy to stick with what I know works. But I’ve had enough and need something totally new. Right now, this cut has my attention. My hair on occasion has a natural wave to it and I think on those days, this cut would still work don’t you?

I also plan on enlisting my makeup artist friend to give me some application lessons. Because yah, I’m needing some help there too.

Jesus, tell me I’m not the only 30-something year old that feels as though she needs help in all of the above departments. Are you craving a whole new you too?

Arthur + Stella

Arthur + Stella

Say hello to the new additions to the family I mentioned last month. Here’s a sneak peak at Arthur the golden retreiver and Stella the dwarf angora rabbit. As I’m having every technological issue under the sun today, it’s just a quick post for now, but I’ll be back with a more official introduction soon.

Happy February everyone.
