These boot slippers from Joe Fresh are the best. The fact that they are gray and white just make them even better.
Next up are some fingerless striped mittens I knitted for myself for use around the house. With the bitter cold we are having, having these alpaca yummies wrapped around my hands is much welcome. For those knitters out there, I used the Endpaper Mitts pattern from Eunny Yang.
And, to top it off, these blankets I found via Bre of Scout Catalogue (blog post here) have caught my eye too. Give me a snow fall, a comfy couch, a cuppa tea, a chick flick and one of these to wrap myself in and we’d have a perfect day around here.
The blankets are made by Mex Chic and can be found here.
What are you currently obsessed with? On a stripe kick too?
Yesterday was one of those days that was perfect on every level. No plans. Beautiful weather. The freedom to let all your to-do’s fall to the wayside while you just let the day take it’s course. Living in the moment at it’s best.
It started with a yummy breakfast made by J, then a quick trip to pick up some Fall clothes and followed up with another marathon dog walk. When we set out on these walks we never have plans or intentions to stay out as long as we do. This time 5 hours. Once again, we took the Don Valley trail but instead headed south.
About an hour into our walk we found a spot that allowed us to hit the creek. Wanting to give the dogs an opportunity to cool off, we headed down. I unfortunately headed down literally… ON MY ARSE. Here’s the proof.
We carried on regardless.
James and I have been discussing buying a house. We’ve considered a few areas in Toronto but something tells me we’ll find ourselves in The Beach where James grew up. We always seem to end up there.
I hope your Saturday was just as relaxing and carefree. What did you get up to?
I’ve said it before that Fall is my favorite season. Here are some of the reasons why…
My first reason is pretty obvious. The turning of the leaves. The color palette or reds, oranges, browns and yellows is so beautiful and refreshing to me. But what I especially love is going for a walk on a sunny Fall day and hearing the crunch of the leaves under my feet.
The smell of apple pie and homemade bread in the oven. Admittedly, I don’t bake like I used to but a few years ago I was obsessed with it. I could always be found in the kitchen on the weekends turning out breads, pies, tarts and any other pastry related item. J has been hearing about my Apple Pie and French Apple Tart since we met 2 (and a bit) years ago but I’m yet to make one. He has however devoured many a loaf of bread. I hope to rediscover my love of baking this Fall/Winter.
Rainy mornings in bed. I woke up to one this morning in fact. I love waking while it’s still darkish out to the sound of the rain as I enjoy the warmth of my bed. As someone that never sleeps in, I can’t help but relish a few extra moments in bed before starting my day. Bliss.
I could go on and on with this post but I’ll end it here. Your turn…
P.S. I realized after starting to write this post that I’ve already asked this question but oh well, who’s counting?
I am currently obsessed with filling my walls with my own photography and the artwork of others. I can’t stop searching Etsy and Pinterest for ideas and inspiration. Here are a few prints I am considering. And please, if you have some favorite prints yourself, feel free to feed my current obsession.
A couple of years ago I attended a conference here in Toronto and Hillman Curtis was one of the speakers. Strangely enough I don’t recall the conference (an RDG one I believe) nor the topic of his lecture but I do remember this short film.
It moved me immediately and it still does today. If I try to sum up why words often escape me. My interpretation of it shifts. Today, this is my interpretation:
As I gear up to start my condo makeover, while I intend on buying some accessories, when I saw this D.I.Y. Fabric Flower Garland on Once Wed by Dolci Odille I found myself getting bit by the D.I.Y. bug. Don’t you just love it? I’m not sure where or how I’d hang it, but I want one. Like now.
If you’ve got any favorite D.I.Y. home accent tutorials you love, please share. Muchas gracias
This video has already made it’s blogging rounds, but it’s new to me and quite mesmerizing. It’s shot by Jon Rawlinson at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan. It’s so serene to watch. The shadows of people looking into such a wonderful, almost secretive world combined with the music make it just perfect.
I’m sure many of you have seen and heard of Ork Posters. Well, I’m eagerly anticipating the release of their Toronto neighborhoods poster. Though I have a love/hate relationship with this city, I’d still proudly hang this beauty on my wall.
I’m very much in nesting mode right now and I’m starting to think about what I want to do to my own home this year to make it more cozy. I’d give a home to these sweeties in a heartbeat.
